Update: Monk will be playable on March 14! I repeat, March is the month of Monk. See main trailer here.

Finally, Monk has arrived! For anyone in the dark, it’s been hinted that he and the DLC cast would be in the game. Only one character remains to be revealed.

As for Monk, he’s been a fan favorite I hear. In one of IFCYipes’s DNF Duel tournaments, I can remember hearing Monk’s name thrown around a lot. Judging from the first look of him, it’s not hard to see why.

He seems like a brother to Crusader as they share a similar stature and aesthetic with the gold and white color scheme. How he’ll play remains an unanswered question. As far as a release date for Monk, that also remains unknown. The forces behind DNF Duel work in mysterious ways that we’ll never understand. But shoutout to them for staying this treacherous course.

The most recently released character, Battle Mage, was teased in late September with a trailer released in early December. She became playable that same month. So going off that timeline, we should expect a full trailer of Monk by May(?) at the latest, with a possible release that same month.

I would hope that ball gets rolling sooner, but if you’ve stuck around this long and continue to play, then you already know how things are in the world of DNF Duel.

With legacy fighting games like Street Fighter 6, Mortal Kombat 1, and Tekken 8 making their noise — not to mention Uni2 and GBVSR with their own strides — most treat DNF like a distant memory at this point. Shoutout to those who are still supporting it by the way (I get the Discord alerts everyday).

DNF Duel is indeed still here, obviously, and in my opinion, fun to play around with. And it doesn’t deserve majority of the backhanded comments it continuously receives, especially from people who claim to support the fighting game genre. But that’s dramatic story for another day.

Nonetheless, now that we know Monk is ready for battle, there’s only one question that remains — who’s next? (Hint)
